I was lucky enough to have a go at flying this new prototype flying machine by Parrot. It's connected to the iPhone over WiFi and flown by tilting the phone in the direction you want to travel. The hardware itself is an amazing piece of technology with ARM926 processor to control flight and stream video back to the iPhone over wireless. Parrot have an open source software framework and hope to enable games developers to create new flying games with Augmented Reality. The flying is semi-autonomous, it can take off, hover and land by itself using a combination of downward facing video camera, ultrasound, 2 gyros and an accelerometer. Very impressive! It handles the difficult part of flying a helicopter, you just tilt the controller in the direction you want to fly. It's great to see this ARM powered device in action, I can't wait to buy one! Check out their official video: www.youtube.com Thanks to Parrot for the demo!
